I'm fine, [ Darcy assures him. She really is. She hadn't been in the explosion and no one had been hurt. She's a little shaken up, but that's about it. ] I'm just a bit worried about my work. Hopefully I can grab it once things calm down here.
[ She stops for a moment, not knowing why she's saying all of this to Nightwing of all people. ] Sorry, I'll be fine. I'm just going to head back to the airbnb that I'm staying in. I've already made my statement with the police, so they told me I'm free to go.
Okay, well don't let me hold you back. [ there's a small lift to the corners of his mouth, barely there with the relief that finally settles into his system. the adrenaline levels off as he nods.
it's probably not appropriate, but he reaches out and finds her elbow, his gloved hand squeezing lightly in a gesture of comfort. ] I'll check on your work for you, so don't worry about it, okay?
[ at this point, he's almost stalling to stick around and watch as her uber pulls up in front of them. ]
Thanks, for checking in and everything. [ Darcy starts, and then her eyes go wide. ] You'd do that for me? Oh my god. Can I give you my phone number? Or the address to where I'm staying? I can come get it, it's not a problem, like, if you can recover it.
[ She nods and then heads toward the uber that's waiting for her, but turns back toward him before she closes the door. ] Good luck with your investigation.
Yeah, sure. Your number, or both are fine. [ he types it out as she tells him onto his comm, as if he didn't have it in the first place, then smiles as she slips into her uber and says her kind parting words. ]
Thanks. I'll be in touch.
[ it's not all that hard to find her work in the burning building. luckily for Darcy, the half that blew off had left her office relatively untouched. he collects evidence and clues before conducting a few more interviews to help the police before he decides it's time to leave.
so Dick is running behind schedule as he pulls up to her airbnb and rushes up the steps. she'll hear him knocking at her door and see the wild, worried look in his eyes when she comes to the door. ]
[ Darcy had been lounging on the couch eating ice cream when someone knocked at the door. All she's wearing is sweats and a tank top since she hadn't been expecting anyone and she wasn't planning to go anywhere. She's still holding the ice cream container when she opens the door.
When she sees who is there, her eyes go wide. ] Uh hi. I wasn't expecting you. Um. Ice cream?
[ If she'd known Dick was coming over, she would have dressed a little nice, and maybe left the ice cream on the table when she went to the door, but it's too late now. ] Come in, I've got like, piles of takeout.
