[He kept an eye on his phone during the silence, one part waiting for Dick's response, but also watching the time. He was a man of his word, after all. He didn't set challenges he wasn't willing to pay for.

He grinned as his screen flared to life, his brother's cocky voice easy to hear in his mind as he read the words and looked up. He was standing and drawing the other man into his arms as soon as he could, Dick's snorting laugh echoed by Jason.]

Yeah, well...you pulled the 'I'm a cop' card to get here, so I guess I can't be too mad.

[He pulled back from the hug only just enough to be able to cup Dick's face in his hand so he could kiss him.]

Missed you, prettybird.

[The nickname got a snort and a bit of an eyeroll, but Jason still let his hand be captured and let Dick take his bag. Well, the bag that wasn't already resting on his shoulder, anyway.

Either he'd brought extra gear or he was planning on staying longer than just a long weekend.]

Nah, that's Timmy's title now. He's the baby of the family, right?

[Bringing Dick's hand up to his lips, he kissed the knuckles that were just as scarred up as his own.]

Of course I flew business. That's an eight hour flight. Like hell am I going to eat my knees for eight hours.

[It might be even more of a challenge if any of the kids got a look at what was in his bag.

Snorting softly, Jason nevertheless smirked as he followed along beside his brother turned boyfriend, their fingers laced together in the sort of easy connection that Jason had never really thought he'd be allowed to have. Life didn't work that way.

Not for him.]

You know I'm not actually a bird anymore, right? But 'little wing' has always been mine. Tim can have babybird. It suits him, feathers and all.

[The walk out of the airport was straight forward enough now that Dick was actually there, and the younger man put up no fights about sinking down into the passenger seat of the classy little car that had taken Dickie's fancy this month.]

Mmm, I might take you up on that massage, pretty bird. But first, get us back on the road before we see if I'm still flexible enough to give road head.

[The universe could pry this little bit of happiness from his cold, dead fingers as far as Jason was concerned. He'd never been one to expect the world to owe him anything, even despite the absolute shit hand that he'd been dealt, but he'd be damned if he let Dick go without a fight.

Even when Dick was an asshole.]

Call me 'bat' again and I'll bite it off, Dickface. [The words and tone were joking, but there was a hardness in them that whispered of at least a little truth. He was good with Dick and was getting better with Tim, but Bruce? Bruce could go take a long walk off a short pier as far as Jason was concerned.

At least, that was what he told himself. The reality was a little more convoluted, but it wasn't something that he particularly wanted to linger on. Not when it had been a month since he'd felt Dick's skin under his hands.

The car was nice. A bit different than Jason's preferred muscle cars, but the sleek lines and sensual purr fit Dick to a tee and Jason had to admit that the older man looked particularly delicious with those long fingers wrapped around a gear shift.]

Conversation isn't a 'waste', I've just missed tasting you on my tongue. I can wait if you want, though...

[He smirked, reaching over to slide his hand down along one denim clad thigh.]
