[It's been a few weeks since Jason's conversation with Dick and the rough end of it, but Jason's back in Gotham years after his death and resurrection. He's currently perched on the edge of a building, binoculars out as he watches Dick through them.
With a rifle on his shoulder, Jason is ready to fire at any moment.]
is this j's first time back in gotham since the pit?
[ someone's been tracking him, following in his every footstep just out of sight in the shadows. whoever it is is good, too, clearly well trained in tailing people. after failing to shake it off after a few tries, both Dick's curiosity and caution is piqued.
despite what Jason is dead set on believing, he's not an idiot. their conversation from weeks ago looms over him, resurfacing in the wee hours of dawn when lays wide awake after a long night's patrol. he's not even sure why he's still in Gotham anymore, other than the possibility of the odd chance that Jason would actually try to follow through on his threats.
Nightwing drops down from one fire escape overhang to the one below, ducked behind the metal railings as he lands facing away from the building overlooking. he knows his pursuer is watching him from the rooftop, possibly with a crosshair aimed at his head, so he can't stop moving. he drops down another level before turning and looking directly up to the parapet just long enough to get his point across: I know you're there. ]
second! first time he tried to blow up the batmobile (i generally play jason lost days #6)
[Jason can appreciate Grayson's ability to try and shake his tail again and again. Jason remains one step ahead of his quarry, staying just out of sight. He dips in and out of shadows with the mastery of an assassin.
It's when Jason finally feels like he has a chance to get shot that Grayson turns toward the parapet Jason is perched on. He's grateful for the silencer on his rifle.
Jason has Dick in the scope, takes a breath and pulls the trigger.]

[ Dick is gone before the gunpowder ignites, before the bullet ricochets off the building. the escrima stick in his hand shoots a grapple across the street and propels him through a window storeys below Jason's perch. he hits the ground running, grappling through the stair well to reach the roof access as quickly as he can.
trying with all his might to catch up to the adopted brother he almost lost. ]
(ooc: to start, jason rose from the dead, wandered around and got hit by a car. was int he hospital until talia drops him in the pit. then basically jason is trained by a bunch of masters so he can kill batman. he is shown that bruce has a new robin (tim) and he tries to kill the joker with gasoline but doesnāt.)
[As soon as Jason realizes the bullet wonāt hit, heās on the movie. He darts over HVAC units and then leaps from the other side of the building. He hits the roof of the adjacent building with a rough roll and he limps for a moment before he shoves all his thoughts toward moving at any cost.]
(( ooc: ah i didnāt know he tried to kill the joker!! whyād he stop. ))
[ Dick pulls the rooftop door open just as Jason leaps onto the neighbouring building, grimacing to himself as the full weight of Jasonās body comes tumbling down.
But Jasonās always been tough, and Dick starts catching up, launching himself across the air as Jason starts limping away. ]
Jason! [ he calls, grunting as he hits the roof and rolls with his landing too. ] Stopāletās just talk!
(ooc: because he said he wanted to do it "on his terms" with batman there. spoiler alert, when jason does get his "perfect confrontation," batman slices his throat open and the joker blows them both up lmao)
[Jason pushes through the pain shooting up his leg, forces himself to run even as he slows down. He can hear Dick behind him. There's a way to slow him down too and Jason reaches into his pocket, turns mid-run, and throws a handful of pocket explosives at Dick.]
(( ooc: ohhh okay i think Iāve heard about this before yes. Poor Jay ;-; ))
[ Dick chases after Jason, the concern knitting his brows tight as the limp becomes obvious in Jasonās leg. He feels bad for it already. He hadnāt meant to hurt Jason.
The thought distracts him from the explosives bouncing his way and he doesnāt see them until a silver little ball is bouncing straight toward him. He has to sidestep to avoid it, diving a few feet to the side as it blows up in a ball of smoke.
He curses under his breath and coughs, continuing to chase the shadow silhouetted against the city lights that he thinks is Jason. Thereās significant distance between them now, but he grapples toward a billboard and launches himself over the tall structure, attempting to close in on Jason. ]
[When he hears the explosives go off, Jason drops down from the rooftops via fire escape. He takes them floor by floor until he's street level and ducking into the shadows of a shop. He watches Dick grapple up to a billboard before taking off in the other direction, allowing his limp to take over fully.]
