[ Tomorrow rolls around quicker than he had been prepared for. Gotham is a heat sink in the summer, cracked black asphalt radiating fumes he swears he can sense from the inside of his car. He’s surprised the rubber hasn’t melted off his tires. It’s not a surprise that he has a tendency to fly solo sometimes, relapsing to abandoning his team, and he’s sure that she knows that. Despite trying to kick the habit, every time certain confidential and risky jobs come up, he finds himself reaching out to her again.
He smiles when he spots her exit. Here, among the crowd at the arrivals hall, they’re just two normal people looking like friends, or perhaps lovers. ]
