Yes, for the most part everything is great. Being with you again feels wonderful.

[a small pause.]

But there's something I need to do in order to gain closure on what happened to Hank. I need to talk to Jason.

oh its a phone call ok

[farcry]

[ there's a matching pause on his end, and he feels pulled in two opposite directions. ]

What do you need to talk to him about?

sorry! I should have specified.

[dawn_is_breaking]

All of it I guess.
You said that in the end he helped you and the Titans, right?

[farcry]

[ he takes a slow breath and his hand comes to his brow. ]

Yeah--yeah, he helped us. I asked him too and he did. [ there's a pause. ] Dawn, I don't know that he's thought through it himself.

[dawn_is_breaking]

All the more reason for us to talk then.
I don't like that my last memory of Jason is something so horrible. I want to give him the opportunity to talk, to tell me his side.

[farcry]

Are you ready to talk to him about that, Dawn?

[dawn_is_breaking]

I wouldn't ask if I didn't think that I was.
Are you worried?

[farcry]

[ there’s a small pause. ] I just hope you’re not going into it looking to hear something specific.

[dawn_is_breaking]

You mean, something like an apology?

[farcry]

Something like that, yeah. I’m honestly not sure how he’ll take it, and I don’t want it to turn ugly.

[dawn_is_breaking]

I'm not expecting an apology.

I used to want to hurt him, make him pay but not anymore. And I'd like to tell him that.

[farcry]

Yeah, okay. [ he rubs at his brow. ] Are you prepared for him not to take it well? [ a beat. ] What if he doesn't want to be forgiven?

[dawn_is_breaking]

Then he doesn't accept it.
Which is fine, I'm doing this for me. I want to lay this to rest so that I can move on with my life.

[farcry]

I know, I-- [ it's hard to keep the emotion from creeping into his voice. he's torn between two people he loves, one as a partner, the other as a brother. ] And what about Jason and what he needs?

[dawn_is_breaking]

You don't think Jason wants an opportunity to express his side of things? Or to know that I'm not secretly making plans to kill him?

[farcry]

[ he shakes his head, despite her not being able to see it. ]

Yeah, okay. [ he's not totally convinced. ] You're telling me because you want me to put you in contact with him?

[dawn_is_breaking]

[She can't see it but she knows he's doing it, she can tell by his tone of voice.]

Yes.
I just need his number, I'll send him a message and then it's up to him if he wants to talk.
Okay?

[farcry]

[ then she'll know he doesn't relent so easily when he isn't fully on board. ]

I'll talk to him about it first, okay?

[dawn_is_breaking]

Sure, if that will make you feel better about it.

I appreciate you doing this, Dick.

[farcry]

[ his sigh is relieved this time. ]

I appreciate you telling me about this. And--wanting to move on. With me. [ she'll hear the smile in his voice. ] Jason's a sore spot for me.

[dawn_is_breaking]

I know he is. He was a bad spot for me too for a long while but I don't want it to stay like that, he was a sweet boy when I first met him and while I know he's probably a lot different now I don't want to keep hurting and hating him for what happened.
We've all made mistakes.

[And one of hers was not waiting for Dick and the team, in her mind she's just as much to blame for Hank's death as Jason is. But the smile she hears in Dick's voice is encouraging.]

You know... I could show you just how much I appreciate you doing this later tonight?

[farcry]

Mhmm, it'd sure help. [ at least they can talk about it together. he turns in his chair, away from the monitor. ]

It's not easy to face it. You've always been better at it than most. The rest of us, we try to run. Jason and I haven't talked about it either.

[dawn_is_breaking]

I was thinking maybe a nice long,hot shower together? [She says, her tone turning lighter.] Then maybe a full body massage?

It's not that surprising. Not to bring gender into this but you are both men, both of who were taught by a man who didn't really believe in talking about feelings or the past.

[farcry]

[ there’s a quiet huff of laughter. ]

Dawn, I can’t talk about Bruce and Jason and hot showers with you all in the same breath but… I’ll never say no to some positive reinforcement. Especially when you’re offering a massage. You know how much I like the way you feel.

[dawn_is_breaking]

[She giggles but then her tone becomes laced with honey and she finds herself biting her lower lip.]

Right, of course. Well you know I'm always happy to help rub you, are there any areas I should pay special attention to tonight?
